Hear from Web3-native accounting firm, Hodl Consulting about how Request Finance simplifies billing its clients in crypto.
Hear from Houssen Issoufaly, CEO and Founder of Web3-native accounting firm, Hodl Consulting about how Request Finance simplifies billing its clients in crypto.
“Using Request Finance’s app for crypto invoicing has been a massive time-saver for us, as well as our clients paying us in crypto. I love how easy it is to use the platform. It eliminates a lot of the complexities of accepting crypto payments for businesses”.
Hodl Consulting is a French accounting firm, in what is ostensibly a red ocean. According to data from the Ordre des Experts-Comptables, OEC, (French Institute of Certified Public Accountants), there were more than 21,000 accounting firms in France.
But while the market for accounting professionals is highly competitive and fragmented, Hodl Consulting offers its clients something that few of its peers do: Web3 expertise.
“One of the challenges of crypto accounting is that it requires deep expertise in both traditional accounting, and how blockchain-based applications work. It is this unique combination of domain expertise that distinguishes Hodl Consulting from other traditional accountants in France”, says Issoufaly.
With nearly 10 years of experience working at various audit and accountancy firms in France, Issoufaly is a seasoned professional. In 2017, research on possible topics for his thesis led down the crypto rabbit-hole. Since then, he has been waist-deep in experimenting with various decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, decentralized autonomous organizations, or DAOs, and the various applications of NFTs to games, art, and more.
In 2022, Issoufaly took the plunge to start Hodl Consulting, with a special interest in supporting Web3 native teams. Today, half of Hodl’s clients are Web3 projects like DeFi platforms, metaverse apps, NFT collections and more.
True to the spirit of DeFi, Hodl Consulting also accepts payments in cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, and USDC for its crypto accounting services.
One of the biggest challenges we faced as a crypto accounting firm was billing our clients in crypto.
Previously, sending invoices required us to manually fill in different crypto wallet addresses for different cryptocurrency types, and blockchains. Not to mention, having to specify the exchange rates of more volatile cryptocurrency trading pairs.
I discovered Request Finance after learning about it from some of Hodl Consulting’s clients that were also using the app.
At Hodl Consulting, we use Request Finance in two ways. It helps us to pay some suppliers in crypto, but also to prepare invoices for clients who want to pay for our crypto accounting services in crypto.
The app has made it incredibly easy to accept crypto payments on the invoices we send to our clients. When creating the crypto invoices in Request Finance, we can simply select our preferred token and chain that we want to get paid in.
Best of all, the app allows us to accept crypto payments into a self-custodial wallet like Ledger, or even a centralized exchange wallet like Kraken Pro for easy off-ramps into fiat.
In France, companies cannot make use of the app’s features to pay employees or their expenses in cryptocurrency. So we mostly use Request Finance to get paid in crypto.
Using Request Finance’s app for crypto invoicing has been a massive time-saver for us, as well as our clients paying us in crypto.
I love how easy it is to use the platform. It eliminates a lot of the complexities of accepting crypto payments for businesses.
With more support for other languages other than English, the app would be perfect for thousands of other small businesses who want to get paid in crypto around the world.
